Servings: 6-8
Time: 15min
INGREDIENTS
4 cups vegetable oil for frying
16oz jar dill pickles (sliced)
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup buttermilk
1 large egg
2 TBSP Honey Shop Spicy Bee Seasoning
Pinch of salt
INSTRUCTIONS
- Remove pickle slices from the pickle rhine and lay them on paper towels in a single layer to dry them out. Pat the pickles with additional paper towels until no more liquid comes out. Breading will not stick to wet pickles
- Add oil to a large pot with tall sides such as a soup pot. Set to medium heat
- In a medium bowl, whisk flour and Honey Shop Spicy Bee Seasoning together
- In another medium bowl, whisk together buttermilk and egg
- Test the oil by clicking a bit of flour into the hot oil. If it sizzles, your oil is ready. Lower the oil down from medium to medium - low
- Working 3-4 slices at a time, complete this process
- coat the pickles in the flour mixture. Gently shake off any excess
- dip into the buttermilk/egg mixture
- Complete a second coating in the dry mixture
- Carefully drop 3-4 pickles into the hot oil at a time and fry for approximately 90 seconds on each side. Breading should be a light gold brown
- Using a slotted utensil, remove the pickles from the oil and place on a paper towel to remove excess oil
- Sprinkle with salt while still hot
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce
